Allegro MicroSystems, LLC receives ISO 26262 Certification

16 March 2015

Allegro MicroSystems, LLC has been awarded the ISO 26262 process certification by SGS-TÜV Saar GmbH.  The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) released this safety standard in 2011 to comply with needs specific to the application sector of electrical/electronic systems within road vehicles designated as:  ISO 26262: Road Vehicles – Functional Safety.  Allegro is a leading supplier of automotive electronic integrated circuits and is fully supportive of this safety initiative.

With the increased use of technologically complex electronics in automotive safety systems, it is critical that these systems are thoroughly designed, manufactured, validated as safe and reliable, and integrated with other systems in the automobile.  The creation of an active Functional Safety culture has become an important corporate objective within Allegro, and employees have undergone extensive training as part of the company’s commitment to the automotive market.  “This is a very important milestone for Allegro that reinforces our strong dedication to our automotive customers to provide safe and reliable components, designed in compliance with this state-of-the-art standard”, said, Lisa Clark, Functional Safety Manager.

Lisa Clark is a contributing member to ISO/PAS 19451: ‘Application of ISO 26262 to Semiconductors’ and is one of three US delegates to the International Semiconductor subgroup.

Allegro will offer A²-SIL safety products that are quality managed as well as those that are fully compliant to the new ISO 26262 safety standard.  Allegro’s safety deliverables are optimised in close co-operation with customers based on an understanding of the system safety requirements.  A complete list of devices and applications is posted on Allegro’s website.
