Forty years of expertise in the sensor sector
What should we do to ensure an automatic quality control process? According to Claus Hofmann, Managing Director of Eltrotec Sensor GmbH, every search for a suitable sensor is based on this question or a similar one. This approach demonstrates that the solution is the primary focus at Eltrotec, rather than the product in the catalogue. Consequently, Eltrotec dispensed with a printed list of available products many years ago, as customer requirements constantly change. The specifications of the selected product are no longer the sole focus of a discussion; users approach the manufacturer with clearly-defined tasks and expect successful solutions. Eltrotec excels when it comes to monitoring complex processes using high-quality sensors. Hofmann describes the difference to standard, high-volume products as follows, “Whereas the simple interrupter reacts to whether a part is present or not, our products check whether components are mounted with the correct alignment and whether the color is right.”
Eltrotec uses a wide range of products to solve the tasks set by its customers. It has five core product areas − color sensors, distance sensors, light barriers, vision sensors and industrial endoscopy. Leading technology is used in all these areas in order to provide solutions for all automation applications. State-of-the-art light sources, intelligent components and easy documentation and analysis are examples of Eltrotec innovations. An important field is customer-specific fiber optics and the associated amplifiers for light barriers, for measuring and testing tasks. In the area of color sensors, the key issue is detection of subtle color nuances, as well as shine and the detection of achromatic gray hues. Detection of gaps and edges in the paper, sheet metal and film processing sectors is the main area of application for the laser distance sensors. The primary sector for industrial endoscopy is the construction of customer-specific, special-purpose devices, e.g. in high-temperature applications, for UV and warm light endoscopes or video endoscopes.
Eltrotec was founded in 1971 and its headquarters are in Uhingen, Germany. The company is part of the Micro-Epsilon corporate group, one of the largest suppliers of dimensional measuring technology throughout Europe.
