Multi-channel Cabling Extended to DataFlow Process Analysis System

Multi-channel Cabling Extended to DataFlow Process Analysis System

20 August 2007

The DataFlow system Type 2865B… from Kistler is the successful system for injection molding process analysis. A new USB interface allows extremely easy connection of the 16-channel signal conditioner of the system to PCs or laptops. The signal conditioner can be fitted with up to four different modules to cater for any analyti-cal task. Each module has four inputs. There is a choice of charge amplifier modules Type 5063A… for piezo-electric pressure sensors, voltage amplifier modules Type 5227A… and 5613A… for voltage signals and transmitters, and thermocouple amplifier modules Type 2207A for signals from thermocouples.

Two new modules support Kistler's multi-channel cabling: Type 5063A2 is equipped with a 4-channel connector that can be used to connect four cavity pressure sensors with just one cable without any possibility of mix-ups. Module Type 5613A3 is used to connect thermocouple amplifier Type 2205A… to the DataFlow system. In this case as well a single cable connects the module to the amplifier for up to four temperature signals.

Multi-channel cabling from Kistler groups the signals of up to eight sensors in a single cable from the mold to the system. This technology eliminates any possibility of cable mix-ups and reduces set-up time. The multichannel system is based on single-wire technology from Kistler and therefore offers all of its advantages: repairable cables and flexible mounting of cables and sensors in extremely tight spaces.

Kistler at K 2007

Kistler will present its portfolio of products on Stand 10F04 in Hall 10 at K 2007 (International Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber), which is to be held in Düsseldorf from 24 to 31 October 2007.

Background – Cavity Pressure Curve

The cavity pressure curve acts as a "fingerprint" of the injection molding process. It is the most significant variable in evaluating the quality of the molding.

As the supplier with the largest and widest range of sensors for all methods of injection molding, simple connection technology and user-friendly, networkable systems, Kistler is the only manufacturer to offer holistic monitoring of injection molding from a single source. The company is the world's leading manufacturer of pressure and temperature sensors for use in the plastics processing industry.

Kistler Group

Kistler’s core competence is the development, production and use of sensors for measuring pressure, force, torque and acceleration. Kistler’s know-how and electronic systems can be used to prepare measuring signals for use in analyzing physical processes, controlling and optimizing industrial processes, improving product quality in manufacturing and improving performance in sports and rehabilitation.

Kistler offers a comprehensive range of sensors and systems for engine development, automotive engineering, plastics and metal processing, installation technology and biomechanics.

A worldwide sales presence in the form of 20 group companies and 30 distributors ensures customer proximity, application support on an individual level and short lead times.

With a staff of more than 800, the Kistler Group is one of the world’s leading provid-ers of dynamic measuring instrumentation. The Kistler Group achieved turnover of 174 million Swiss Francs in the 2006 financial year.
