Robust Draw-Wire Encoders with up to 40 m Measuring Length

04 July 2025
Turck offers draw-wire encoders with low latency, a range of interfaces and high linearity of up to ±0.05%

Turck is expanding its portfolio of linear position sensors with the new DWE draw-wire encoder series – a robust and reliable solution for industrial length measurements in applications where contactless systems such as optical, ultrasonic or radar sensors reach their limits. The DWE series offers measuring lengths from 250 mm to 40 m and is available with analog outputs (current/voltage) as well as digital interfaces such as IO-Link, Profinet or CANopen. Thanks to the teachable analog output, the full output range can be optimally scaled even when using partial ranges. Depending on the model, the housing complies with protection classes IP65, IP67 or IP69K and are designed for ambient temperatures from -20 to +85 °C. The precise draw-wire mechanism enables high accelerations with a high linearity of up to ±0.05 %.

The draw-wire encoder series consists of 148 devices with potentiometric, magnetic or optical measuring for optimum representation of any application. The potentiometric encoders achieve the highest degree of protection to IP69K with the appropriate connection technology. The magnetic and optical encoders can be parameterized and are available with digital interfaces such as IO-Link, CANopen or Profinet.

For particularly fast availability, six variants with 1, 2 and 3 m measuring lengths and analog outputs are available from stock. Typical areas of use are in racking systems in intralogistics, mobile machinery, AGVs and many applications with telescopic lifting systems.
