New mounting concept for 8 x 8 sensors

Balluff: Holders for positioning 8 x 8 sensors in aluminum extrusions used to be expensive one-of-a-kinds. None of the sensor manufacturers offered them in their catalogs, and the user had no alternative but to fashion handmade, rail-specific holders – a time-consuming and costly undertaking.

Help has arrived from the sensor specialist and connectivity provider Balluff with a new, patented clamp for rapid and flush-mounted positioning. The holder with its 8 x 8 sensor, which fits both Item and Bosch profiles, is simply inserted into the slot from above and fixed with the turn of a screw. Bombproof mounting for all 8 x 8 style sensors, whether inductive or optical, is provided in just seconds.

When it comes to miniature through-beam sensors in the 8 x 8 form factor for example, this opens up applications which used to require use of fork sensors, especially where there was a lack of intermediate sizes.
