Integrating scales in control environments via Ethernet and CANopen

The CAN-Ethernet Gateway that the measurement technology specialist HBM offers for its digital weighing technology components simplifies this integration significantly.

Industrial weighing applications must frequently be integrated in higher-level control environments. The CAN interface of the Gateway can directly access up to 128 digital FIT load cells and AED transducer electronics; the Gateway acts as the CANopen Master in this case. The user can easily configure the weighing components via the Ethernet interface which is also integrated in the Gateway. At the same time, remote monitoring of the system and diagnosis of individual components is possible via the Ethernet interface.

HBM digital weighing technology can be very easily integrated into higher-level control systems with this new Gateway. Typical applications can be found for example in dosing or filling machines. The user profits here from the advantages of digital weighing technology, such as simpler internal data flows, faster and more accurate filling, as well as cost reduction.
