Tough Torque Measuring Flange Responds Dynamically
The integration of a market partner into its group has allowed Kistler to expand its product range. The torque measuring flange, Type 4504A…, is designed specifically for use under the demanding and complex conditions encountered in engine testing. This sensor comes with a robust, contamination-resistant, fully integral speed measuring system as standard. Other features include its slim profile, high torsional rigidity, impressive dynamic response and high precision. There are two versions of the speed measuring system: a simple 60-pulse design and a high-resolution alternative that also allows angular measurement. The high-resolution model uses 180 to 3 600 or 128 to 4 096 pulses to yield an angular resolution of down to 0,02º at low speeds. The integral digital measurement processing system makes a data link via the RS-232C interface possible. This enables measurements such as speed and torque to be read and the sensor parametrically configured, identified and tared. Additional interfaces are in preparation. One voltage output or one frequency output is available.
Torque measuring flange, Type 4504A..., in test stand simulation
The flange is outstandingly suitable for test stand use in applications including internal combustion engine, transmission, roller, wheel load, electric motor and pump test rigs.
The flange-to-flange solution and the fact that it can be fully mounted from one side make the product very easy to mount in-line. The measuring range of the Type 4504A… is 200 to 10 000 Nm.
