Safety Temperature Limiter for the Ex-zone

Trafag AG: Safety temperature limiters type KT are used in potentially explosive atmospheres for monitoring and limiting the temperature of electric resistance heating systems during operation. The sensors employed can be used in solid, liquid and gaseous media. The electric switching element is an explosion-proof microswitch in its own flameproof enclosure. The entire temperature controller or safety temperature limiter is housed in an “increased safety e” enclosure.

The safety temperature limiter KTSB might be used in zones in danger of gas explosions ((II 2 G Ex de IIC T6) as well as zones in danger of dust explosions (II 2 D Ex tD A21 IP 66 T80°C). It features a switching capacity of 16A up to 400V. If the set temperature is exceeded it must be reset manually by a special tool in order to permit operation again. The KTSB possesses a capillary tube pressure relief device. The functional testing was done according to EN 60730 Part 1 and Parts 2–9.
