Volpi presents intraLED 5 LED light source

Expansion of the intraLED light source series

In spring 2011, the Swiss company Volpi successfully launched the intraLED 3. Now an expansion of the LED light source series follows in autumn with the intraLED 5. The new light source is based on the same equipment platform as the intraLED 3, and with a light intensity of more than 700 lumens it offers an additional output increase of 40% (measured on a 1-meter light guide with an active diameter of 13.5 mm). The service life of the LED at full load and in continuous operation is declared by the manufacturer to be 30,000 hours. The maximum light intensity falls to about 70% in this time period, and with around 490 lumens is just under the initial value of a new intraLED 3. The intraLED 5 is thus the right choice for all applications in which a great deal of light is required and the light intensity of the intraLED 3 would not be sufficient, or only barely sufficient. The other technical features of the intraLED 5 remain unchanged compared to the intraLED 3. The color temperature is about 6000 Kelvin. The light intensity can be adjusted manually, via a continuous rotary potentiometer on the front of the unit, as well as by remote control via various interfaces. The RS232 connection and a 6-pin multiport on the back of the light source come as standard. In addition, an analog, a digital and a trigger input are available via the multiport. The intraLED 5 is also available in two variants and is thus compatible with light guides from Volpi and Schott-Fostec. The compact aluminum enclosure features M4 threaded rails on four sides, for trouble-free system integration.
