Baumer acceleration sensor: safety with certificate
SIL2/PLd-certified acceleration sensor GAM900S by Baumer was particularly developed to detect and monitor vibration and shock at wind power stations. The master control is provided with precise acceleration information to prevent any excess vibration at an early stage. In addition, integrated SIL2/Pld- compliant limit monitoring will signal any out-of-limit incident via the redundant relay output. This is a plus in safety and thanks to EC type specification simplifies implementation of the machine directive. The 2-in-1 functionality cuts down on component cost and the effort for cabling and logistics.
Diversified redundant and capacitive MEMS sensor elements acquire the acceleration with outstanding precision, particularly at minor deviations. They precisely capture the entire vibration spectrum prevailing at a wind turbine.
The likewise redundant micro controllers with implemented Safety-Rated-Embedded-Software fulfil the requirements of the SIL2 and PLd safety integrity level. They are compliant to standard ISO 13849 and basic safety standard IEC 61508 including its comprehensive, software-related annex 3. Integrated deep and band pass filters efficiently compensate unwanted interference and offset errors.
The safety relay output can be integrated in virtually any safety system and is tripped when exceeding the limit configured by default. GAM900S utilizes two relays with readback contact, each addressed by 2 channels and cross-checked by safety-rated embedded software.
The sensor operates free from wear and maintenance. IP 67 protection and temperature capabilities from -40 to +85 °C ensure extreme robustness. The product variant in glass-fiber reinforced plastic housing even withstands corrosive environments of the C5M category and is also available in aluminium housing as an option. The master control is supplied with the acceleration information via CANopen interface or analog output. A multicolor LED as an activity indicator allows for easy on-site diagnostics.
