Bourns Introduces 6 mm Incremental Potentiometers for Space-Constrained Position Feedback Applications
Compact hollow-shaft incremental potentiometers combine long operational life, stable electrical performance, and flexible mounting options for industrial and commercial equipment
RIVERSIDE, Calif., September 14, 2026 - Bourns today announced the PST065 Series 6 mm Incremental Potentiometers, a new rotary position sensing component family designed for applications where board space is limited and reliable position feedback is required. The series combines a compact 6 mm hollow-shaft design with stable electrical performance, a rotational life rating of 10,000 cycles, and resistance values from 1 kΩ to 5 MΩ. Available in horizontal and vertical mounting configurations, the PST065 Series supports mechanical flexibility in space-constrained equipment designs.
As industrial and commercial equipment becomes increasingly compact, design engineers face mounting pressure to integrate reliable user input and position sensing functions without increasing the PCB footprint or adding mechanical complexity. Rotary position feedback components used in automation equipment, robotics, and human-machine interfaces must maintain consistent performance throughout their service life while accommodating varying mechanical shaft configurations. The PST065 Series addresses these requirements with a miniature package, multiple shaft styles, and operating characteristics intended to support consistent position feedback in demanding everyday operating environments.
“Designers of compact control and position feedback systems often need to balance limited available space with requirements for long operational life and stable performance,” said Javier Navarro, Product Line Manager, Sensors & Controls, Bourns. “The PST065 Series combines a 6 mm package size, a hollow-shaft mechanical design, and a 10,000-cycle rotational life rating to help simplify integration into industrial controls, motion systems, and other equipment where long-term reliability is an important design consideration.”
