Bourns Introduces its first AEC-Q200 Tested Overtemperature Protection Mini-Breaker Devices that Broaden their Application Usage
Offering breakthrough protection for heater circuits, Bourns® Model AD and SD Series mini-breakers deliver industry-first resettable options in the industry's widest trip temperature range*
RIVERSIDE, Calif., March 13, 2023 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today introduced its AD and SD Series miniature thermal cutoff (TCO) mini-breaker devices. Delivering an advanced level of resettable, accurate and repeatable overtemperature protection that has not been available before in a miniature device, the AD and SD series mini-breakers offer multiple industry-first capabilities. These are the first mini-breakers that can be either surface mountable (SD Series) or axial leaded/weldable (AD Series). They are the first to offer non-automatically resettable (self-hold) or automatically resettable (non self-hold) function options. These are also the first mini-breakers with such a wide trip temperature range (55 °C up to 150 °C). In addition, these mini-breaker series have been tested by Bourns to AEC-Q200 equivalent test standards.
Additional valuable features of the new Bourns® Model AD and SD Series mini-breakers include high trip accuracy of just plus or minus 5 °C, and very low resistance values of 4 milliohms max. These highly-repeatable devices offer ratings up to 10,000 cycles and can be used as resettable overtemperature protectors or sensors in a battery system.
"As a leading developer of miniaturized overtemperature protection solutions for more than 30 years, our goal in designing the Model AD and SD Series was to significantly push the boundaries of mini-breaker device capabilities to expand their use in a new range of markets and applications," said Brian Ahearne, Thermal & Precision Division Product Line Director at Bourns. "The series' wide trip temperature range makes them ideal for a variety of heater circuits that previously did not have overtemperature protection, or had to use bulky solutions or limited use single-blow fuses. Resettable overtemperature protection available in such miniature packages is a unique and beneficial solution to these applications and now many others."
Bourns® Model AD and SD Series mini-breakers are available now and are RoHS compliant** and halogen free***. For more detailed product information, please see: www.bourns.com/products/mini-breakers
