Colibrys launches new products and strengthens its position as high-end MEMS sensors manufacturer
Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, 10 April 2015 - Colibrys, the Swiss MEMS manufacturer, announces a new product launch and strengthens its worldwide position as a high-end motion sensors supplier. This news closes an intense period of change that began in 2013 with the company buy-out from Sagem (SAFRAN group), world leader in inertial sensing system.
2015 promises to be an excellent year for Colibrys as the company has just launched a new Gyrometer based on vibrating technology to complete their MEMS accelerometer catalogue. According to the manufacturer, the GS1000 Gyro offers to be one of the best alternatives to FOG technology. This angular rate sensor benefits from an extremely low noise (0,015 °/sec (rms, 0,1 to 100Hz), RW:0,005°/√h) and an excellent short term stability (0,2°/h - Allan variance).
Furthermore, the Swiss company will also launch this summer a new vibration sensor that will surpass all existing MEMS for low frequency sensing. This new state of the art sensor will offer the lowest nonlinearity and noise in the market place so far. Product release will happen in June 2015 and announces an important breakthrough for Colibrys.
This product portfolio consolidation comes at the right time to reinforce Colibrys position as a market leader in the high-performances sensors market which represents about 200 Million USD annual turnover and one that Colibrys has addressed from its beginning, in 2001. Over the last 14 years, the Swiss manufacturer delivered over 8 Million MEMS with about 1 Million MEMS sensors.
Since its integration to the SAFRAN group in 2013, and after a successful move from Neuchâtel to Yverdon-les-Bains (Switzerland), Colibrys currently possesses everything needed to ensure its long term growth. The Swiss company benefits from the international group to boost R&D partnership and speed up development. Production capabilities have also increased consequently, as during its relocation, the company acquired a new state-of-the-art 6’ Wafer fab.
“We are ready to speed-up our growth and to address the new market needs on the long term” Patrick Gougeon, Colibrys CEO said. “These two last years, we have managed to implement strong structural changes in a record time. Thanks to a clear product development roadmap, we are confident to ensure and reinforce our position as a leader of high performances MEMS sensors”
A shared enthusiasm as almost all Colibrys’ distributors joined the International Sales Meeting that the company organized in its headquarters in Switzerland in early March this year. Thirty-six participants from fifteen different countries attended the event and shared Colibrys’ vision and strategy.
