Compact, high-precision magnetic discs for absolute angle measurement systems
Simple integration and fast evaluation
The advantages of absolute measurement systems, such as immediate readiness when powered up, no loss of position after unplanned stops, and fast startup have long been known. With their BML BM 1 magnetic encoder system Balluff now offers a feedback solution for motors, drives and mechatronics which is perfect for integrating into compact rotary systems. It detects all rotations at high speed by measuring the angle or rotational speed.
A particular feature is the uniquely small form factor of its absolute encoder discs, which can be perfectly inserted in even the smallest spaces. They are ideal for use either as complete systems from Balluff including sensor and electronics or with the IC-MU chips for integration into your own electronics.
This broad range of standardized flat and hub discs leaves nothing to be desired in terms of mechanical integration and accuracy, and simplifies the evaluation. Various codes are available, such as 16/15, 32/31 and 64/63. Inside diameters of even up to 70 mm are possible. If mechanical adaptations are necessary, Balluff's modification department or an engineering partner can be called in.
Another great advantage of the angle measurement system is the generous air gap allowed between the code disc and the processing electronics compared with optical systems. During series production of motors and actuators, the advantage of this gap is reflected in more flexible, simplified assembly, direct cost savings and competitive advantages.
