Configurable control system PNOZmulti 2 from Pilz New expansion modules for greater flexibility
Pilz: New expansion modules for safety and communication are now available for the configurable control system PNOZmulti 2. The base unit PNOZ m B0 can now also be expanded with four modules. With PNOZmulti 2 it is possible to have a flexible implementation of safety solutions of varying sizes and requirements. The multifunctional, easy-to-configure control system is tailor-made for use in many areas of mechanical engineering, particularly when several safety functions – such as emergency stop, light beam devices or safety gates – are to be monitored on a machine.
From Version 1.1, the base unit PNOZ m B0 can now be used with up to four expansion modules on the right-hand side. These can be used to increase the number of safety functions such as emergency stop, safety gates, light beam devices or two-hand control. As a result, more safety functions can be monitored simply and flexibly. So PNOZmulti 2 ensures greater flexibility with regard to an application's size and individual requirements.
The base unit is only 45 mm wide but has 20 safe inputs and four safe semiconductor outputs up to PL e / SIL CL 3. It consumes up to 80 per cent less energy than comparable products. Convert this to CO2 consumption and over 4800 operating hours and it means a saving of up to 6.39 kg of carbon dioxide per year for each control system that is used.
New expansion modules for modular expansion
For modular expansion on the right-hand side, a new input module with 16 safe inputs and an input/output module with four safe inputs and four safe relay outputs have now been added to the existing safe input/output module with eight safe inputs and four safe semiconductor outputs. On the left-hand side of the base unit, communication modules with either a serial or ETH interface, plus the fieldbus modules PROFIBUS-DP or CANopen, provide the option to exchange data between the PNOZmulti 2 and various control systems. For users this means a more flexible and more open connection to existing or even new applications.
The configuration tool PNOZmulti Configurator
The new hardware can be used with the current Version 9.2.0 of the PNOZmulti Configurator. The software tool enables you to save time and costs in all engineering phases from planning and configuration through to maintenance. The safety circuit is created simply on the PC and is flexible enough to be adapted to changing applications.
