Digital differential pressure sensors in SOIC16 package
Miniaturization in sensor technology
AMSYS presents the new OEM pressure sensor SM9543 especially designed for lowest pressure applications. The miniaturized sensor which combines a newly developed silicon measurement cell (MEMS) with a complex signal-conditioning ASIC is individually calibrated and temperature compensated during the production process. There is no need for an additional circuitry, such as a compensation network or customer correction algorithm.
The SM9543 is a bidirectional differential sensor in the pressure range from – 5 mbar to + 5 mbar. With 14 bit ADC-resolution and 1.5 % accuracy across the whole temperature range of – 5° to 65° C the sensor is extremely suitable for medical applications.
A digital pressure signal proportional to the pressure change is available via the I²C interface. Built-in diagnostics indicate errors in the measurement as well as outdated data.
The pressure sensor housing is suitable for surface mounting by reflow soldering and features a JEDEC compliant SOIC-16 footprint for straight-forward PCB design and assembly. The two vertical pressure ports allow an easy connection of hoses.
Applications:
The new low pressure sensors SM9543 are especially designed for medical applications, like e.g. sleep apnea control, CPAP devices, respiratory systems and negative pressure wound therapy. Furthermore the SM9543 can be applied in HVAC applications, for ventilation control and in environment control measurement instruments. The sensors are also capable for gas flow respectively airflow measurement. With the dual porting, a vacuum-gauge measurement is possible to minimize altitude errors due to changes in ambient pressure.
The cost-benefit ratio has been improved by increasing the performance and by consistent miniaturization leading to decreased assembly costs. Therefore the devices are absolutely suitable for price critical applications.
