Dynamic temperature measurement of car motor valves under operating conditions using sensortelemetry
The company Manner has developed a further new valve telemetry product, specially designed for the online measurement of dynamic valve temperature profiles on car motors under operating conditions. The distinctive feature of this product is the miniaturised telemetric measurement amplifier with its special form. The complete ring-shaped telemetric measurement amplifier with integrated antenna (outside diameter 20 mm, inside diameter 7 mm, height 4 mm) is mounted directly onto the valve plunger. Due to its low weight of just 2g, the retroaction on the valve train is negligible. The valve train’s spring plate serves as the carrier. The system operates with robust thermocouple elements which effortless withstand the high acceleration forces and are simple to mount. The temperature resistant telemetric measurement amplifier can be deployed at ambient temperatures of up to 160°C and operates on a purely digital basis with 12 bit resolution. The pick up, mounted at a generous distance, scans in the measurement values on a non-contact basis and transmits them via cable to the stationary evaluation unit. The valves may rotate during operation. Characteristic for this product is that continual signal contact is not required. Thanks to the patented, maintenance-free, inductive sensortelemetry transmission technology, the system’s action time is practically unlimited.
