Ergonomic, durable and extremely compact
New Hall effect joystick with very low installation height and robust mechanics
MEGATRON's new 848 series of wear-free Hall effect fingertip joysticks feature a flat and an extremely robust design. These input devices are ideal for use in control consoles, driver's cabs and applications with high mechanical requirements.
The 848 fingertip joysticks features a unique design with a low profile of less than 42 mm above the panel and an installation depth of less than 26 mm. These characteristics make them ideal for applications with limited installation space or where a low profile is desired for ergonomic reasons. They also have IP66 protection and internal magnetic shielding to minimise the impact of external magnetic fields.
The joysticks' mechanics are also very robust. They can withstand a maximum load of up to 400 N, and the omnidirectional metal mechanism of the input devices has been equipped with a ball-and-socket joint to dissipate the forces acting on the shaft. This design is highly resistant to vertical impacts. It can also withstand high tensile and shear forces. Therefore, the finger joysticks of the 848 series are ideal for use in harsh environments. Since the sensor is based on wear-free Hall technology, the joysticks have a service life of up to 10 million cycles. For even greater reliability, they are also available with redundant Hall sensors as an optional extra.
Depending on the customer's requirements, the 848 series of finger joysticks can be equipped with an analogue voltage output, pulse width modulation (PWM) or a CAN J1939 or CANopen interface. The joysticks can be installed from above or below, either in a panel or a vehicle dashboard. They are delivered ex works with a standard 2.54 mm pitch connector. For series production, we can also provide customer-specific cable assemblies and install stabilised 3.3 V electronics for inputs and outputs.
