Ethernet POWERLINK (EPL) is a patent-free, manufacturer-independent and completely softwarebased communication system that delivers real-time performance. Since the fieldbus is based on Ethernet communication, it can be applied with standard Ethernet cabling and support an unlimited number of nodes.
