Fully standalone universal controller
A new controller from Micro-Epsilon opens up multiple potential applications. The electronics unit on the new CSP2008 Universal Controller takes over the processing of up to six sensor signals and is primarily intended for thickness and planarity measurements. Two sensors can be directly connected to the controller. Four other sensors are connected to the controller via separate Ethercat modules. All processing takes place internally. The CSP2008 is able to perform extensive arithmetic calculations of several sensor signals and is therefore one of the most advanced controllers for digital signals currently available. An optical display with high luminance enables easy reading of the measured values during daylight from a distance of approx. two metres. Due to the very high data transfer rates of Ethernet, Ethercat and RS422, the data output is performed extremely quickly. The Ethercat interface is intended for real-time applications. The internal communication between I/O components also runs using an Ethercat connection.
It is also expected that users will use Ethercat as an external interface for connecting further sensors and further I/O modules. Easy configuration and display options are possible via Ethernet. A simple configuration can also be made with ASCII commands via the RS422 interface.
