HBM presents a rugged measurement data acquisition system for drive tests
HBM has developed the measuring amplifier family SomatXR for mobile measurement data acquisition under extreme conditions. The modules are extremely durable and can be used for a wide variety of requirements.
The amplifiers in the new product family SomatXR are especially suitable for measurements under very rough ambient conditions outside the laboratory. They are protected against moisture, dust, shock and vibrations. All the modules meet the protection class IP65/IP67 and can be operated within a -40 to +80 °C range.
"The SomatXR measuring amplifiers guarantee precise measurement results, even in rough environments. They were extensively tested under real conditions for this purpose. For example, resistance against sudden temperature fluctuations was proven through the use of thermal shock tests", explained Finn Lange, product manager at HBM. Standardized tests based on the standard MIL-202 confirm a vibration resistance of 10 g and an impact resistance of 70 g.
Amplifiers in the SomatXR family are designed in particular for drive tests with construction machines, agricultural machines, mining machines and for road ve-hicle summer and winter tests. Three different module types, each with 16 indi-vidually configurable and galvanically isolated inputs, support numerous different transducer technologies. Strain gauges, resistors, potentiometers and piezoelectric sensors can be connected, making it possible to measure mechanical stresses, currents and temperatures. Depending on requirements, the user can spatially distribute individual modules or deploy them centrally. Mobile or stationary op-eration, in combination with other measurement data acquisition systems such as e.g. QuantumX, is also possible.
