Heavy duty rotary encoders with IP69K protection
SIKO GmbH: Many encoders are pushed to their limits, especially for mobile machines, in heavy industry, for outdoor use or offshore applications. In these instances, an encoder with only offers high accuracy is not enough, because even at -40° or +85°C, when exposed to shock and vibration, dirt and moisture, measuring tasks always have to be carried out smoothly and with precision.
Hardly any other sensor is faced with as many different challenges as a rotary encoder used in relentless, heavy duty applications. The fine line between high resolution, functionality and robust housing design has to be achieved. The SIKO WV42HD robust, magnetic, absolute rotary encoder in heavy-duty design has managed to pull off this feat without compromising flexibility, reliability or size.
The reasonably-priced WV42HD heavy-duty rotary encoder is flexible to use. Different interfaces, such as CANopen, SSI or Analog are available. The encoder always takes advantages of the magnetic wear-free measuring principle and battery-free multi-turn technology. The innovative technology is encased in a stainless steel housing of only 42mm diameter, allowing it to be used in applications with limited installation space.
Special design features ensure the high IP69K protection rating throughout a long product life cycle, making the encoder the obvious choice for positioning tasks in mechanically difficult environments.
Combined with robust ball bearings (intermittent shaft load rating 300N, continuous shaft load rating up to 270N), the WV42HD is the perfect choice for reliable measuring under extreme environmental conditions, such as high humidity, fluctuating temperatures and aggressive media (salt spray test according to DIN EN ISO 9227 >240hrs).
Advantages at a glance:
- High flexibility:
- Different interfaces: CANopen, SSI, Analog
- Heavy duty design in stainless steel:
- High shaft load rating up to 300N
- IP68, IP69K protection rating
- Resistance to acid and salt spray
- Protection against strong magnetic fields
- Absolute, battery-free measuring principle
- Due to the absolute, battery-free measuring principle based on the Wiegand effect, the WV42HD does not require a battery to store the actual value.
