HeavyDuty encoder EEx OG 9 presented by Baumer at ACHEMA is a real product highlight in the chemical, petrochemical and process industry and the first explosion-protected Baumer encoder with IECEx certification. The pressure-tight encapsulated housing (Ex “d“) providing enhanced safety (Ex “e“) is compliant to both ATEX safety directive 94/9/EG for hazardous explosive atmospheres (EX II 2G Ex de IIC T5/T6 Gb) and to IECEx scheme (Ex de IIC T5/T6 Gb). Thus, it is approved for deployment in about 30 countries where the safety directive has been in force.

Particularly the user will benefit from internationally standardized products when related systems and facilities are intended for export. The encoder utilizes an optical sensing system and provides 16 to 5.000 ppr, depending on the configuration. The sine signal configuration with patented LowHarmonics technology ensures excellent signal quality. The robust housing is made of high-quality pressure die-cast aluminium and comes with 11 mm stainless steel shaft. The terminal box rotatable through 90° will ease installation and features a protective terminal cover compliant to „EX e“.

IECEx system serves to ensure mutual recognition and adoption of testing standards and certifications relating to electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres.
