High-Resistance Strain Gauges to Lower Your Power Consumption

BCM SENSOR has recently succeeded to manufacture the single-grid linear strain gauge of 5000Ω resistance in a compact size (*).

• (*): Gauge length: 4mm; Backing dimensions (width x length): 5.6mm x 8.5mm.

Such high-resistance strain gauges are specially demanded in the applications of low power consumption, for instance the applications of battery-powered devices or systems such as the wireless sensors and wireless sensor networks, and remote or portable testing equipment.  

Moreover, the bridge circuit of the higher-resistance strain gauges can permit higher excitation voltage leading to a higher signal to noise ratio of the bridge output.

The technique to manufacture the strain gauges of higher resistance can also be applied to any other BCM SENSOR metal foil strain gauge type, as shown by the picture.
