Inductive sensors for on- and offshore wind power plants
Baumer expands its portfolio of sensors for wind power plants with the new Series IFRR and IWRR inductive sensors. The sensors are extremely robust, absolutely reliable and, due to a large operating temperature range, suitable for onshore as well as for offshore applications. The series includes digital and analog measuring sensors.
All versions of the inductive sensors are designed for an operating temperature range of -40 to +80 °C, which also qualifies them for cold climate applications. For the use in offshore wind power plants the compact sensors are available in V4A stainless steel housings with protection class IP 69 K, the housing of the onshore versions is made of nickel-plated brass with protection class IP 67. The proTect+ impermeability concept guarantees the sensors’ tighness under IP 69K conditions and additionally under changing temperature conditions. Thus, their reliable operation can be guaranteed even after many day/night cycles. Due to the extraordinary impermeability, the sensors are especially low-maintenance and their MTTF is > 100 years. Additionally, the high sensing distance of up to 12 mm provides for an easy, quick and flexible installation into the plant.
Digital inductive sensors are mainly used to detect the nacelle position and the rotor speed. Measuring sensors are applied for monitoring the brakes and the shaft deflection.
