IO-Link technology for PSSuniversal 2 - The link to networked production
Pilz is presenting the new IO-Link master module PSS u2 ES 4IOL for communication between the remote I/O system PSSuniversal 2 and sensors/actuators. IO-Link technology is standardised worldwide in accordance with IEC 61131-9. It enables automatic parameterisation and expanded device diagnostics in the spirit of Industrie 4.0.
The IO-Link master module PSS u2 ES 4IOL can be integrated into Profinet and Ethernet/IP networks using the corresponding head modules. IO-Link devices such as sensors or actuators are connected to the remote I/O system PSSuniversal 2 via four IO-Link ports on the master module. One module transfers up to 128 bytes of process data via point-to-point communication. The process and device data of the devices is available centrally in the master module. The IO-Link data interface simplifies all the maintenance tasks due to the detailed device and cabling diagnostics.
Efficient parameterisation
The master module is configured simply via the software PASconfig from Pilz. The user can save the device configurations centrally in the master module PSS u2 ES 4IOL: when a sensor is exchanged, its data is simply transferred to the new sensor; no new parameters need to be set. This automated parameterisation saves the operator time. In addition, faults are reduced and plant availability is increased. The IO-Link module can be hot-swapped, which further minimises downtimes.
Intelligent diagnostics
An LED display on the master module visualises the IO-Link mode, operating status and module errors. Expanded diagnostics through communication with the IO-Link devices also enables open circuit detection. The IO-Link master module PSS u2 ES 4IOL provides the information to the intelligent devices for further processing for a networked production and it can support future solutions for preventive maintenance.
Remote I/O system for safety and automation
The remote I/O system PSSuniversal 2 provides flexibility, openness and granularity and is the economical solution for periphery expansion. The I/O modules can be used universally in an identical manner for a wide variety of safety protocols. Its three-part system structure means that the PSS u2 system is easy to install and service. Optimised handling reduces errors and helps the user save time.
