IoT solution for autonomous compact oxygen ventilator system against the spread of COVID-19
ES Systems, joining the global efforts against the coronavirus pandemic, has designed a prototype concept, in co-operation with G. SAMARAS, for an autonomous, compact and modular solution for oxygen ventilation that will support the need for fast and low cost O2 and ventilation support, integrating different systems in order to reduce the need for infrastructure and the need for the continuous presence of an in situ doctor.
The systems can be deployed in areas that there is no infrastructure like O2 generators and air networks or data networks or specialized physicians. These areas could be:
- Islands with small units (one or two beds)
- Remote medical centers without gas networks
- Transportation vehicles or planes -ships
- Military field hospitals
- Emergency coronavirus hospitals deployments
- Home treatment
The main system parts are:
- Power supply
- Oxygen generator
- Docking station
- Aspirator system
- Mass flow meter (ESRF-ESF)
- Ventilator system
- Vital signs monitor
The system is mobile, and its weight is below 10kg.
The modularity and the possibility to operate stand-alone only with power supply, without the need of a gas network system, makes it unique as a solution instead of having multiple different instruments – complicate to use and difficult to transfer the information from one point to the doctor. The solution will be easily deployable, compact, and low cost compared to purchasing all the units separately or a high-end ventilator.
The implementation of the solution will lead to the development of an innovative Oxygen Ventilator, capable of operating without the need of a gas network, which will be produced in Greece. The end solution will enable a major reduction of oxygen consumption in the medical sector, fast deployment in hospitals or even enabling home oxygen treatment.
