Laser distance sensor with IO-Link and ambient light suppression
Precision distance measurement
The new BOD 24K laser distance sensor from Balluff ensures detection and positioning of objects of various kinds. For example in contour detection, distance determination or orientation monitoring in assembly applications. Thanks to the precise laser beam it also reliably detects small objects and object details. Innovative features such as selectable ambient light suppression, a precision mode for especially high accuracy as well as a filter for interference are all features that are not necessarily standard with traditional sensors. Another great feature: the sensor is rated for Laser Protection Class 1, so that it can be used without any additional protection measures.
Integrated into a rugged plastic IP 67 housing, the sensor is available for working distances of 50 to 100 mm and 50 to 650 mm with a resolution of < 10µm or 50µm. It provides a continuous, proportional voltage and current signal of 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA. Two digital outputs with selectable PNP/NPN switching function (normally open/normally closed) are also available. With a switching frequency of 500 Hz continuous detection of even fast events are no special challenge for the sensor.
On the top side of the sensor is a highly visible OLED display and two integrated keys. These can be used to select various modes and functions. Intuitive, menu-driven operation means fast startup and easy use of the full functionality. Alternatively you can make all the settings even more conveniently using IO-Link.
Three integrated mounting holes and a rotating plug make installation and connection easier. A simple, standardized 4-pin M12 plug means the BOD 24K is quick and easy to connect. Two colored LEDs indicate readiness and the switching state of the sensor.
