Leuze electronic builds new production center in Owen

On May 21, 2012, Owen mayor Verena Grötzinger, Stefan Leuze, representing the shareholder family, and Managing Director Dr. Harald Grübel together laid the foundation stone for the new production center of Leuze electronic GmbH + Co. KG. The complex will be a two-story office building with around 2,000 m² of space and a 2,000 m² large air-conditioned hall.

Next year, when Leuze electronic will celebrate its 50 year anniversary, electronics production plans to move from the existing hall nearby into the new building. In its Owen facilities, the company manufactures, among other products, optoelectronic sensors as well as identification and image processing systems such as are used in the automotive industry, in conveyor and storage systems and in printing machines and packaging technology.

The reason for building the new hall was that the old production facilities could not be expanded any further – modernizing them would have been uneconomical. Due to the future close proximity of the sales, development and production divisions, a sensor technology center will exist in Owen which can only be a positive influence on the company: "The nearness of the departments will facilitate quick, efficient coordination as well as fast decision-making and implementation processes for market-oriented and customized products", explains Dr. Harald Grübel, Chairman of the Board and person responsible for development and production at Leuze electronic.
