A commitment to the region: ground-breaking ceremony in Lenningen for the new distribution center for global logistics of Leuze electronic
Construction is underway on Leuze electronic's new distribution center in Unterlenningen, approximately 4 kilometers from the main location of the company headquarters. With an amount in the double-digit millions, the company is investing in its national and international logistics to supply its customers and subsidiaries even faster and better. The ground-breaking ceremony was held on June 25th. Completion is planned for mid-2020.
Owen, June 25, 2019 – The highly successful business performance and double-digit growth course of the past years continued at Leuze electronic globally in all market segments in 2018. Sales volume last year even considerably exceeded the threshold of 200 million euros. "A continuously high number of orders poses a positive challenge and requires a new form of global warehouse logistics," says Jochen Wimmer, Chief Operating Officer at Leuze electronic. Leuze electronic is therefore investing globally in new structures: construction began on a new central distribution center in Singapore at the start of the year which will operate in the local time zone. Its opening is planned for August 2019. With the construction of its new distribution center in Unterlenningen, the company will be able to even better meet the needs of its national and international customers and subsidiaries around the world. On June 25, Leuze electronic held the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for the project. The central distribution center for its global logistics is being constructed approximately 4 kilometers from the company headquarters, nestled in the landscape of the Lenningen valley. It offers space for the logistics areas of incoming and outgoing goods, automatic small-parts warehouse as well as storage, order picking and shipping. The logistics hub – which can still be expanded further – will, in the first stage, offer approximately 40,000 shelf spaces on a floor area of 4000 square meters. The construction project is being executed by the Leonberg-based construction company Mörk. The company will accompany all planning and project management and the entire construction process related to the new building. The draft presented to the municipal council includes a bright, friendly building and spatial concept: glass roof domes and attractive office workplaces as well as meeting rooms allow employees to work in a bright environment flooded with daylight. With this multi-million euro investment, Leuze electronic makes a clear commitment to the region, to the location of its company headquarters and to its roots. The first sensors were developed here in 1963. Today, Leuze electronic is one of the innovation leaders for Industry 4.0-capable sensor solutions in industrial automation and has approximately 1,300 employees around the world. About half of the sensor people work at the company's headquarters in Owen/Teck in the Swabian region of Germany. With this investment, Leuze electronic sends a clear signal with regard to growth objectives and future orientation. From tradition into the future. The course has been set.
