Line scanner with integrated controller
According to customers, increasingly more compact sensors are now also required for line scanners. Innovative measurement technology company, Micro-Epsilon, presents a new generation of line scanners. The most important difference between the new Scancontrol 2700 and conventional line scanners is the integrated controller. This means no other component is required for the measured data evaluation. However, despite this, the measuring head has very compact dimensions. This relative small size means the scanner is ideal for use in automation systems, where space is often restricted. Typical measurement tasks for the Scancontrol 2700 are the measuring of profiles and the measurement of angles, gaps and clearance.
A small output module for DIN rail mounting is required for conversion of data into common field-bus systems. Using this, the profile data is optionally output as CAN-Bus, Profibus DP, Ethercat or IEEE. The laser line scanner Scancontrol 2700 uses the triangulation measurement principle for the two-dimensional acquisition of profiles on the most varied of target surfaces.
In contrast to the familiar point laser sensors, the ScanCONTROL 2700 projects a laser line onto the surface of the target using a linear lens. The diffusely reflected light is replicated on a CMOS matrix by a high quality optical system and evaluated in two dimensions.
As well as the distance information (Z axis), the exact position of each point on the laser line (X axis) is also acquired and output by the system. With moving objects or with a traversing sensor, 3D representation is also possible.
Scancontrol is distinguished by its high scanning rate and high measurement accuracy. The geometry of the measuring field (height Z and width X) can be varied and adapted to the measurement application. With fast moving profiles, high accuracy is achieved for the complete profile using a high speed shutter. While the matrix is being read out, the next image is recorded. Consequently, higher light intensities are realised with high profile frequencies. The Scancontrol 2700 is available with measuring ranges of 25mm or 100mm.
