Melexis Named Finalist of Prestigious 2007 EE Times ACE Award in Analog IC Category
Melexis, a global leader in advanced integrated semiconductor devices, today announced it was named a Finalist in CMP Technology's EE Times third Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards (www.eetimes.com/ace) for the Analog IC Category. Melexis’ MLX90614 infrared thermometer was selected a Finalist because it delivers a cost-effective, fully calibrated digital temperature reading that serves as a remote monitoring solution. This IR thermometer is designed for a broad range of applications such as automobile air conditioning, room heaters, home appliances, handhelds and medical equipment.
Victor Kassovski, infrared business unit manager at Melexis, comments: “We have condensed Melexis’ decade long experience with non-contact thermometer manufacturing in the MLX90614 and made sure that this thermometer will be an easy to use, cost effective solution for OEM manufacturers in a wide range of applications.”
Melexis focuses on developing cost-effective, technology leading advanced integrated semiconductor solutions. Examples include advanced Mixed Signal semiconductors, sensor ICs, and programmable sensor IC systems. First introduced in September of 2006, the MLX90614 won top ranking and EETimes eeProductCenter.com’s Ultimate Product status in the Analog IC Category. As a Finalist in the ACE Awards, this product will also compete in the Analog IC Category.
The Ultimate Products of the Year Award – awarded to the most significant product introduced in the last 12 months in seven categories - is determined by large-scale peer review. Finalists in each category are chosen by qualified readers of EE Times and eeProductCenter.com on a quarterly basis via electronic balloting from a list of nominees submitted to readers by expert editors with accompanying editorial reviews.
EE Times ACE Awards are presented in 18 categories and are judged by a blue-ribbon panel of industry experts, comprised of the leading voices of academia, industry and Wall Street executives. The judges will choose winners in seven categories. Winners in the additional 11 categories are either peer-to-peer or editorially selected.
“This year’s ACE Awards finalists mark a shift in the industry, as the electronics industry becomes more focused on creating technologies attractive to consumers – from educational toys, to microphones, cell phones and light sensors,” said Brian Fuller, editor in chief, EE Times. “The 2007 finalists represent the execution of forward-thinking technologies and creativity that captures the imagination of consumers, illustrating the influence that electronics and embedded design professionals have on today’s culture.”
The EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards celebrate the creators of technology who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the global industry and shape the world we live in. These creators, and their innovations, will be recognized at the EE Times ACE Awards Gala on April 3, 2007, as part of CMP Technology's Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley, the largest electronic systems design event in North America.
