Gantner Instruments: In an attempt to balance safety requirements and cost consciousness, monitoring structures and diagnosis of the structural condition is a proven means of simultaneously achieving cost efficiency and safety. Unfortunately there are repeated examples of severe damage, which could have been avoided by proper monitoring. This is particularly dramatic when human injury is involved.

The solution consists of a flexible number of distributed measuring modules and one or more test controllers, synchronized, for example, by a radio-controlled clock. The values measured most frequently are expansion rates of supporting elements, expansion of fissures, e.g. with inductive sensors, forces and moments, pressures, temperatures and vibrations. Dynamic and synchronized capture of distributed reading signals, e.g. along a bridge, allows users to correlate vibration signals.
