New PMI 5 Series operator terminals from Pilz - Simple, economical diagnostics

Pilz PMI operator terminals are used to operate and monitor technical processes. The new 5 Series provides a resistive (pressure-sensitive) touchscreen display in various sizes: from a 6.5" VGA display and widescreen 7" WVGA up to the PMI 538 with 15" XGA display. Seven display sizes are available in total. In conjunction with the diagnostic concept PVIS, the operator terminals provide easier troubleshooting on plants.

The current devices are based on the newly developed processor module with 1GHz ARM CPU and operate with 256 MB RAM and 512 MB Flash memories, plus the operating system Windows CE 6.0 Professional. Thanks to the low energy requirement and long service life due to LED backlighting, users benefit from an economical but high-performance platform for their visualisation tasks.

Where plants are equipped with PMI operator terminals and Pilz control systems, the diagnostic concept PVIS provides easier troubleshooting when a machine malfunctions. Error messages from the control systems PNOZmulti and PSS, the automation system PSS 4000, the safe bus systems SafetyBUS p and SafetyNET p or even motion control PMC are displayed in plain text; messages are accompanied by positive suggestions for how to rectify the problem. The user is guided to the solution step by step, so troubleshooting need not be time-consuming.

Any available graphics software can be used for visualisation. By using standardised interfaces, such as Ethernet for example, all common programmable logic control systems can be connected to the operator terminals PMI. The PMIs operate with any Windows® CE-compatible software, with numerous applications for Win CE 6 (ARM).
