PCB Adds Two New 1200 °F Accelerometers to High Temperature Portfolio
Provides Better Accuracy and Higher Temperature Capability for Gas Turbine and Automotive Applications
PCB Piezotronics, Inc., is pleased to announce two new accelerometers, Models 357D92 and 35793, that make measurements with better accuracy and lower noise, during large temperature variations. "The crystal technology inside makes high temperature measurement possible," said Bob Metz, PCB's Director of Aerospace & Defense. These new accelerometers designed with UHT-12™ or Ultra High Temperature 1200 ˚F (650 ˚C) solves gas turbine and automotive engine manufacturers' persistent problem with ceramic based sensors known as pyroelectric noise. Metz went on to describe, "...the material also has the ability to operate in shear mode, which isolates the accelerometer from thermal influences and base strain errors."
UHT-12™ technology allows accelerometers to be insensitive to temperature variations. This is ideal for test and vibration monitoring applications of gas turbines, turbochargers, exhaust systems test and engine balancing.
The UHT-12™ family consists of accelerometer Models 320C52, 339A30, 339A31, 339A32, 357D90, 357D91, 357D92, 357D93, Series EX611A00, EX611A, EX600B, and has been adapted to pressure sensor Series 115 and 176.
In summary, UHT-12™ technical advantages include:
- Elimination of pyroelectric noise spikes, up to 1200 ˚F / 650 ˚C
- Consistent sensitivity over a wider temperature change
- Crystal isolated from base strain and transverse measurement errors
