Pilz at the Hannover Messe 2020 (Hall 9, Stand D17) - “Industrial Transformation” safe & secure!
Under the exhibition slogan “Be safe and secure with Pilz”, at this year’s Hannover Messe (20 – 24.04.2020) Pilz will be exhibiting safe automation solutions that include safe drive technology for the “Industrial Transformation”. These solutions consider machinery safety and industrial security in equal measure. The main area of focus is comprehensive access control: the automation company will be presenting machine access concepts, which can be used to safeguard the machine, making it “safe & secure”.
New products from the small controller range PNOZmulti 2, sensor technology range PSEN and operating and monitoring range PMI (Pilz Machine Interface) complete the exhibit. You too can support the “Industrial Transformation” approach. What’s more, visitors to the exhibition can do more than just get information about Pilz motion control (PMC): they can experience live the interaction between Pilz servo motors, Pilz servo amplifiers and Pilz motion control in the interactive six-axis driving simulator.
Small controller takes care of industrial security and safety
The issue of safe access permission is an essential building block en route to networked production. Version 10.12 of the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator now enables up to four evaluation units PITreader to be connected to the base unit PNOZ m B1 – creating comprehensive access management: in conjunction with the evaluation unit from the operating mode selection and access permission system PITmode fusion, PNOZmulti 2 operates as a system solution to take over the simple enable and authentication of certain subfunctions or the complex, hierarchical permission matrix.
Managing operating mode selection is another important aspect of being “safe and secure”. PNOZmulti 2 can do both in conjunction with the reader unit PITreader: in addition to access control, the small controller also now offers some efficient options for functionally safe operating mode selection. That’s because with the new operating mode selection elements (function blocks) in the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator, safe operating mode selection is easy to configure on plant and machinery. In Hannover, Pilz will even be showing two convenient application solutions – either via pushbutton or touch panel. Users benefit from safe, simple to operate access control and comprehensive machinery safety.
Get mobile with PSENscan
Productive and at the same time safe area monitoring must be considered to enable mobility in Manufacturing 4.0. For this instance Pilz has the safety laser scanner PSENscan to hand, which now not only provides productive area monitoring but also dynamic navigation of AGVs. With the help of the new ROS package (Robot Operating System) for dynamic navigation, the safety laser scanner can now use SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping), for example, to manage automated guided vehicles. By transferring scanner measurement data, users benefit from a more dynamic, safer implementation of mobile applications in production environments.
The burner among the safe controllers
Safety on furnaces will now need to be redefined: from Version 10.12 of the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator, the new base unit PNOZ m B1 Burner from the small controllers PNOZmulti 2 supports simultaneous monitoring and safe control of furnaces. It is responsible for safe control and monitoring not just of the burner, but of the entire furnace. So for the first time, not only can a wide range of burner applications be configured simply, but plant-dependent safety functions can also be monitored at the same time.
A new dimension in safety
Safety requires flexibility of design: in Hannover Pilz will be presenting its innovate actuators for the coded safety switches PSENcode as part of its sensor technology range. At just 3mm, the new PSENcode low profile actuator is currently the world’s most low profile actuator. As such it can now penetrate into the smallest dimensions, particularly when it comes to Plexiglas applications. Users benefit from this versatility: not only do they have maximum manipulation protection with the smallest space requirement thanks to RFID transponder technology, but they also have a high degree of freedom when designing the machine.
Higher performance visualisation
Professional visualisation of plant and machinery is essential in modern industry. In this context Pilz offers solutions in which PMI becomes the link between human and machine. The panels PMIvisu v807 and PMIvisu v812 are now being added to the PMI product portfolio to provide even higher performance in this area. These panels complete the Pilz portfolio of visualisation panels and, in conjunction with Pilz control technology, offer a comprehensive system solution, even for web-based visualisation. The new, high-performance series consists of the robust PMI v8 Panel and the web-based visualisation software PASvisu.
Focus on South East Asia
The largest economy in South East Asia is Indonesia, this year’s official partner country of the Hannover Messe. Pilz has had a local subsidiary there since 2016: Pilz South East Asia looks after its customers in the ASEAN region – including Indonesia – with its own sales and service organisation, operating out of its headquarters in Singapore.
In a successfully growing economic region, the focus is increasingly on automation and therefore also safe automation: “We are delighted that interest in our consulting services for safety and engineering, for example, is constantly growing. With our range of training courses and services we can help our customers to implement the right safety standards for their machines and applications”, says Mark Meng, General Manager at Pilz South East Asia
