Pilz at the new IN.STAND exhibition: safe, productive machine operation - Not retro, just fit!
At the IN.STAND exhibition (23.–24. 10. 2019 in Stuttgart), the automation company Pilz will be showing how even “old iron” can be made fit for the requirements of the smart factory: Pilz will be presenting its automation solutions for retrofitting plant and machinery, along with the corresponding services. They enable operators to increase the productivity and safety of their plant, without the need for costly new investments. Pilz is a founding partner of the new exhibition for maintenance and services. It is supporting the exhibition’s premiere as a co-organiser of the accompanying technical forum.
If the mechanical base is right, then a retrofit can bring plant and machinery back to the state of the art in terms of electronics. At IN.STAND in Stuttgart Pilz will be showing that a sustainable retrofit involves so much more than simply swapping wearing parts: Automation solutions and systems consisting of controllers, sensors, drive technology and the corresponding visualisatio optimise production and handling processes safely. At the exhibition Pilz will be using an eccentric press on which the safety and control technology has been completely modernised to show how a “retrofit” can be implemented.
Focus on safe sensor technology
Sensor technology has a special role to play in the safe operation of plant and machinery. Safe sensors open up additional freedoms when it comes to planning dynamic process cycles and work areas in which man and machine interact. At In.Stand Pilz will use a model of a safety gate to show its safe sensor technology PSEN in action: safety switches to monitor positions and guards for access control, as well as tactile or optical sensors for area and zone monitoring.
Safety is more than just a product
For a safe and productive operation, hazards must be assessed, plants examined, test intervals determined, test results documented and staff trained. With regard to safety, it is often almost impossible for operators to estimate the scope of the maintenance measures themselves, not to mention the various aspects involved and the mutual dependencies.
This is where Pilz’s extensive range of services comes in: Experts from Pilz support companies with services from risk assessment through to CE marking, covering safety and automation technology, overhauling non-electrical components and undertaking mechanical modifications, providing a one-stop customer and problem-oriented service for all phases of the machine lifecycle. Pilz is also a reliable partner when it comes to carrying out safety-related inspections, applying and implementing applicable standards and directives and producing the necessary technical documentation.
Pilz is exhibiting at IN.STAND in Hall C2, Stand 2C24.
Practical knowledge for practical applications
Pilz is a co-organiser of the accompanying technical forum. On both days of the exhibition, practical presentations and panel discussions will take place under the motto: “Maintenance in the age of digitisation”.
