Pilz at WindEnergy Hamburg – Simple, safe automation of wind turbines
At WindEnergy Hamburg Pilz will be exhibiting automation solutions that can be used to monitor safety functions and operating modes on wind turbines. The main focus of the Pilz stand will be on safe speed monitoring, which allows wind turbines to operate efficiently in compliance with the standards. Some of the innovations on display include an I/O module for safe speed monitoring in the automation system PSS 4000. In Hamburg Pilz will also be providing information about its range of services en route to CE marking.
Standard-compliant speed monitoring
Pilz offers a complete range of products that is proven worldwide on wind turbines. The products are used to monitor and control plant states at any time and to meet safety-related specifications. The speed monitor PNOZs30, configurable control systems PNOZmulti and the automation system PSS 4000 monitor standstill, (over)speed, position, broken shaft, speed range and direction of rotation in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 up to Performance Level (PL) e.
Safe processing of analogue values
All functions relevant to the safety of the wind turbine can be monitored and controlled using the automation system PSS 4000 from Pilz . Thanks to the safe processing of analogue values, PSS 4000 is not only able to regulate speed but can also calculate values such as acceleration in the event of sudden gusts of wind and then control the plant accordingly. The I/O module for safe speed monitoring is new to the automation system PSS 4000. With just one rotary encoder the module monitors safe speed, direction of movement and stop functions up to PL e. Operators benefit from higher productivity, reduced downtimes and simpler maintenance and repair of their wind turbines.
Support en route to CE marking
At the exhibition Pilz will be exhibiting its comprehensive range of services for wind energy – from consulting to international standards and industry standards, to risk assessment, validation of safety functions and professional support en route to CE marking. The automation company provides information on how customised services can be used to minimise existing risks. The required safety regulations can also be implemented in such a way that sources of error and interference are identified early, costly downtimes are minimised and the plant's service life is extended.
Pilz is exhibiting at WindEnergy Hamburg 2016 in Hall B6, Stand B6.342.
