
Precisely measuring tension and compressive forces
Low-profile force transducer tolerates lateral forces and torques
Whether crane or wind power plants or general engineering, there are applications everywhere that require precise force measurement, for example to avoid overloads. Burster präzisionsmesstechnik offers a wide range of sensors for such tasks, which is now extended with the new model 8525 low-profile force transducer. The sensor is not only very compact, but is also insensitive to external forces and torques. In addition, the sensor is equally suitable for static and dynamic measurements with a high number of alternating cycles. Power supply and data are fed out via an 8-pin circular connector with bayonet lock, eliminating the need for on-site cable configuration. The very robust sensor made of 1.4542 stainless steel can be equipped with load centering plates for tensile force applications, which simplifies handling under demanding tensile loads with lateral forces. The measuring ranges from 0 ... 10 kN to 0 ... 200 kN (higher measuring ranges to follow) with a non-linearity of 0.1 % F.S. enable universal use in the range from - 30 to + 120 °C.
Sturdy compact design
Thanks to its design, the sensor is very robust against lateral forces and, depending on the version, is only 27 to 46 mm high with a diameter of 89 to 152 mm. Centric internal threads facilitate installation for tension and compression measurements, e.g. using optional fork heads or chain hooks. Depending on the intended use, the sensors are calibrated not only for compression but also for tension, thus providing precise results for reference measurements, material testing, measurement of tensile forces (tensile forces in ropes, chains with load centering plates) or weight forces. A test report is included with each sensor and, if required, the manufacturer also offers certification and repeat tests via its in-house test laboratory. The output signal can be calibrated depending on the tension/compression so that values in the positive range are always displayed. The sensors are easy to install using flange mounting. Measuring amplifiers and other supplementary metrological components can also be found in the manufacturer's programme.
