PSENvip: Safe press braking with large tools
Ostfildern, Oct 23, 2012. Pilz has added a special tool function to the camera-based protection and measuring system PSENvip. Even with large tool shapes, it can be used to monitor the bending angle measurement on presses safely and in compliance with the standards. TÜV NORD has certified the function.
With the new special tools function, various tool sizes are now classified for the camera-based protection and measuring system PSENvip. While protection in tool class 1 is in compliance with the standards, tools of class 2 and 3 the camera image can only partially detect the tool on account of its size. PSENvip is now able to monitor even large tool shapes safely by raising the switchover point or changing the speed when descending towards the plate.
Some tools used on press brakes cannot be safeguarded using conventional solutions on account of their size. In accordance with the standard EN 12622 "Safety of machine tools – Hydraulic press brakes", each bending line must be safeguarded by a protected field 15 mm in advance, on the operator side. The challenge and requirement in complying with the normative specifications is that the tool is completely within the protection system's field of vision.
