21 January 2012

Ostfildern, Oct 26, 2011. Pilz GmbH & Co. KG has officially opened its subsidiary in India. Pilz India Pvt Ltd is based in Pune in western India and will provide product and service support to international customers as well as companies based or active in India. Plans to expand the subsidiary further are already underway. The commitment shown by Pilz shows its backing for greater safety awareness locally.

"The demand for automation solutions is growing in all sectors of Indian industry. The best way to support our customers here is to have our own subsidiary. We also want to contribute to the growth of the Indian economy", explains Renate Pilz, Managing Partner of Pilz. The country's main growth industries include infrastructure projects, mechanical engineering, renewables and automotive.

In addition to the Pilz product portfolio with automation solutions for safety and standard, the business activities of Pilz India Pvt Ltd. will also include service, technical advice and complete care of customers' projects. Plans to expand the Indian subsidiary further are already underway. Pilz will shortly be opening further offices in the capital, New Delhi, and in Chennai, the centre of the Indian automotive industry.

Existing customers will also benefit from Pilz's commitment. "Now we can provide a faster, more individual service to our customers who are active in the Indian market, in terms of both products and technical support", explains Klaus Stark, Head of International Sales. This will mean a genuine competitive advantage as regards machine safety, particularly for companies operating globally: "An industrial company only needs one or two machine designs for all its production facilities worldwide. It can reflect its machine and safety standards towards India", the Sales Manager is keen to stress.

As a worldwide ambassador for safety, Pilz wants to increase safety awarenss on the Indian subcontinent. "Indian companies are increasingly realising that, quite apart from relieving human suffering, safety is also worthwhile economically", says Sanjay Kulkarni, General Manager of Pilz India Pvt Ltd. That's why it is Pilz's declared objective to work with research centres and public bodies to create in India a culture of protection for man, machine and the environment.
