SCATEC copy counter detects newspapers in conveyor clamps
Baumer: The new member of the SCATEC sensor family was developed in particular to precisely and reliably count newspapers in conveyor belts. The sensor’s ability to recognize whether none, one, two or even more papers are transported is a unique feature. It makes sure that there is no paper missing in the conveyor clamp, therefore avoiding deficiencies, and, most of all, that there never are more than the intended numbers of copies because too many papers can cause machine breakdowns in the further processing of the papers. Another highlight is the additional connector on the very compact housing of the new copy counter. Via this plug a photoelectric or inductive sensor can be connected directly to the SCATEC , including their power supply, in order to synchronize the copy counter with the machine operating cycle.
Object speed of up to 5 m/s and copy thickness of up to 0.25 mm are no problem for the sensor and its large sensing range of 120 mm facilitates the installation. With the ScaDiag software the sensor can be programmed quickly and reliably, using saved empirical values, which adds to the ease of use when commissioning the sensor. Furthermore, measuring sequences can be recorded and saved for error diagnosis and process optimization using the software.
