SensoPart celebrates jubilee year with extensive programme of events

04 April 2019

Sensor manufacturer SensoPart is celebrating its 25th anniversary on 5 April. The jubilee year will be celebrated in style with multiple events organised for employees, customers, partners and members of the public.

"We gauge ourselves not by what is possible today, but by our vision of what can be achieved" – this was the motto devised by SensoPart’s CEO Theodor Wanner when founding the company in 1994. The electronics engineer with a PhD began his career with leading sensor manufacturers Pepperl & Fuchs and later Sick, and has gone on to achieve remarkable success – “his” SensoPart Industriesensorik GmbH has acquired an international reputation as an innovative supplier of opto-electronic sensors and image-processing vision sensors for factory automation. The company has even become a market leader in the sector of image-processing vision sensors, which play a key role, for example, in robotics applications.

SensoPart’s customer spectrum ranges from automotive and machine construction, electronics and solar industries to pharmaceutical companies and the food sector. The medium-sized company is still recording strong growth, even in its 25th year of existence. Today, SensoPart totals 210 employees in its home sites of Wieden and Gottenheim, as well as in its international subsidiaries in France, England, China and the USA. And things are set to continue: A new 2,600 square metre production hall was inaugurated 18 months ago on the Gottenheim site, doubling the production and logistics space.

A week of celebrations in June

“In our jubilee year, we want to combine work with celebrations, and have therefore devised a variety of events for our employees, customers and partners,” explains company spokesman Bernd Eckenfels when describing the upcoming programme. The celebrations begin with an inhouse party for employees on 12 April at the founding site of Wieden – one week after the official anniversary. An entire week will be dedicated to the jubilee from 24 - 29 June, under the title “SensoPart International Innovation Week”. This is an opportunity to gather the entire international “SensoPart family” in Gottenheim – with employees from the German and international offices and distribution partners from all over the world. It will be a week of celebration with customers and partners, but will also include specialist training courses and presentations on technological trends.

A very special event will be held in the course of this Innovation Week: customers, partners, suppliers and guests from the world of politics are invited to “SensoPart Innovation Day” on 27 June. There will be training sessions and top-class scientific presentations, for example by Prof. Dr. Thomas Bauernhansl, Director of Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart, and Prof. Dr Bernd Jähne from the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) of Heidelberg University. These will be followed by a panel discussion, chaired by Dr Peter Ebert, Editor-in-chief of the trade journals “InVision”, “SPSMagazin” and “Robotik und Produktion”. In parallel, there will be an open-house trade fair with some exciting exhibits, including elements from the robotics sector. The fair will be open to customers, potential buyers and friends of SensoPart. The Innovation Day will close with a festive evening in the Bürgerhaus in Denzlingen, by invitation only.

The jubilee celebrations will conclude with a final event for employees - or rather their children: The “SensoPart Children’s Day” will be held on 5 July in Mundenhof with a rich programme for both young and old. It will then be exactly three months after the official anniversary date and the sensor manufacturer will have already stepped firmly into its next quarter of a century. Founded as a family company, SensoPart will remain so in the future: One of the two daughters and the son of 65-year-old Theodor Wanner are already active in the company, so that a smooth transition between the generations is guaranteed. And the Gottenheim site still offers plenty of room for further expansion.
