smartFOS A, Fiber optic accelerometer
OPTOcon AG: The fiber optic accelerometer smartFOS A is ideal for monitoring of industrial machines: e.g. windings, winding heads, insulated turbo generator bearings, high voltage circuit breakers, large electric motors.
smartFOS A is a fiber optic accelerometer, ideal for all applications where conventional metal accelerometers are not suitable. Ideal applications include the measurement in turbo-generators, hydro generators and large electric motors.
The sensor can be used in environments at temperatures of up to + 180 °C. Due to its small size and lightweight design, it is very easy to integrate into existing systems and thus a robust solution for industrial applications.
The smartFOS A is equipped with a large touch screen with backlight, analog output and RS-232 interface enable real-time data acquisition. The accelerometer can be directly controlled from the screen keyboard or using the software "smartFOS TV". Here, the LED functions on the body as a status display of custom alarm settings for the frequency and amplitude. The fiber optic accelerometer can be used in electromagnetic strongly influenced environments, in microwave fields and wherever metal accelerometers are not suitable. The sensor head consists of non-conductive material and is completely non-metallic.
The standard cable length is 10m, but can be customized. The sensors are designed to withstand even harsh and aggressive environments. Inside the accelerometer is an one-side supported optical fiber. The resonant frequency depends on the diameter and clamping length. The optical fiber illuminates the edge of a dielectric mirror.
The intensity of light reflected back into the fiber varies with the oscillation frequency of the fiber, the amplitude is proportional to the strength of the acceleration of the vibration.
Via the outputs and thanks to its accompanying software “smartFOS TV”, measurement results can be easily controlled and monitored.
