Smooth, safe and reliable – Brake Resistors from Metallux for electrical positioning drives

Metallux AG resistors are suitable for application as brake resistors on electrical position drives. They excel through their high safety, reliable function and easy assembling method as well as minimal space requirement. Metallux brake resistors in servo drives enable e.g. conveyer belts to move into the chosen position quietly and dynamically.

To fulfil the high technical requirements on components for industrial as well as medical devices, the Metallux resistors are not only UL-listed but can also, on request, be actively fuse-protected. This additional component can be advantageous to protect the resistors during extreme loading conditions and thereby prevent a possible fire hazard.

The extremely resilient and carefully chosen components consist, without any exemption, of RoHS conform elements and are in accordance with the Dodd-Frank guidelines.

Apart from many applications in logistical systems solutions, distribution centres of mail service providers, conveyor belts at airports or assembly lines of automotive manufacturers, servo drives also assist within the medical sector for horizontal and vertical movements on electrical driven patient beds or stretchers. On all these applications the exact position recognition as well as a smooth and dynamic process is the focus. The resistors absorb the kinetic energy and thereby facilitate a dynamic brake application. Wire wound resistors in a heatsink aluminium profile combine the high pulse load of current resistor materials with an optimal heat conduction and a high degree of protection. The additional assembly onto a heat conductive area improves the heat dissipation even further and thereby enables a higher loading capacity. Series PWR-S conforms to the requirements of UL508 and is especially suitable for the application as brake, charge, discharge or heat resistor. Easy assembly and minimal space requirements further distinguish the series PWR-S.
