Strain gauges can also measure very rapid pressure changes
Conventional pressure sensors are often not up to measuring very fast and very large pressure changes. In contrast, the PMS40 pressure measurement gauges presented by the measurement technology specialist HBM are ideally suited for this purpose.
These pressure measurement gauges consist of a measuring grid made of manganin. whose resistance changes dependent on pressure. Due to the very small mass - in comparison to conventional pressure sensors - even transient pressure signals with rise times of 50 ns and very high pressure peaks of up to 10 kBar can be measured. The pressure measurement gauges are also suitable for highly-dynamic measurement of pressure surges in liquids.
Typical applications are the analysis of shockwaves created during explosions or ultrasonic applications. HBM offers the complete measurement chain required for such measurement tasks, together with the high-speed data acquisition system Genesis and the Perception software.
