The configurable safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 for furnaces from Pilz now has UL certification for USA and Canada - Burner now also for use in North America!
The safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 for burner management from Pilz now have certification from Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The global test organisation UL has its headquarters in Northbrook, USA. Certification confirms that both the small controller's base unit and modules meet the national safety standards of the USA and Canada for furnaces. This benefits users on site, as it allows faster commissioning of firing plants.
Certification in accordance with UL 60730-1 and UL 60730-2-5 has now been achieved for the base unit PNOZ m B1 Burner as well as the expansion modules PNOZ m EF 16DI and PNOZ EF 8DI4DO and the fieldbus modules PNOZ m ES PROFINET and PNOZ ES PROFIBUS.
Certified safety for furnaces
UL 60730-1 and UL 60730-2-5 deal with automatic burner controls, which are used for automatic control of burners with oil, gas, coal or other flammable substances. UL certification enables companies/users to access the North American market. The base unit PNOZ m B1 Burner meets the requirements of NFPA 85 and NFPA 86, making it much easier to access the market in North America. NFPA 85 focuses on increasing the operational safety of boilers, NFPA 86 on minimising fire and explosion hazards on ovens. PNOZmulti 2 Burner is also standard-compliant in accordance with the European standards EN 298, EN 50156-1 and EN 50156-2 and has TÜV certification.
Safe management of burner technology in a complete package
The base unit PNOZ m B1 Burner from the safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 enables the safe monitoring and simultaneous safe control of furnaces to be managed simply using one solution, from Version 10.12 of the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator. That's because PNOZmulti 2 controls and monitors both the burner itself and the entire furnace. An expansion module PNOZ m EF 4DI4DORD with four safe, diverse relay outputs is also available to control a burner's safety valves. Diversity means that a safety level up to Performance Level (PL) e can be achieved.
All-round protection for a wealth of application scenarios
Different burner types such as master or slave burners, direct or indirect ignition, low or high temperature mode can be controlled. So the configurable small controller supports applications in the food and confectionery industry – on automatic wafer baking ovens for example – in sugar cane or ethanol production, but equally in building automation, the automotive industry and process industry for example.
