The new BFB 75K fiber optic base unit

Extremely fast and highly precise

The new BFB 75K fiber optic base unit from Balluff with IP 64 protection offers not only an attractive design, but also extraordinary switching accuracy and switching frequency. The use can choose from among the economical basic model for all standard applications, a high-end version with maximum flexibility for special requirements, and an identical version with the addition of an analog output. All models use a powerful red light emitter for generous sensing and scanning ranges, an NPN and PNP output, and are prepared for DIN rail mount.

The basic model features a teach-in button as well as two LED indicators, and can like all other models be configured intuitively by pressing a button or via an external control line. Since seldom needed functions have been left out, this model represents an especially economical solution.

The high-end amplifier for maximum performance and flexibility features a 12-bit processor, a high switching frequency of up to 8 KHz and a highly visible, 180° rotatable display. A series of additional LEDs is used among other things for indicating switching state and signal stability. The menu-guided operation is simple and convenient. The user can for example select from among four preset operating modes, “Standard”, “Small Parts”, “High Switching Frequency” or “Long Range” depending on the actual requirements. Additional functions such as an on- and off-delay, fine adjustment of the switchpoint, switching window programming and time functions leave nothing to be desired.

The high-end model with the addition of an analog output is truly a multi-talent. It provides a 0…10 V voltage output signal proportional to the remission or to the distance of the sensing object. Now one sensor model can handle various tasks such as counting parts, monitoring the height of the bumps on pharmaceutical blister packs, or providing edge control using a light line converter.
