Triaxial Force Sensors Measure Vehicle Chassis Dynamics
January 11, 2006, Depew, NY, USA – The 260A Series Triaxial Force Sensors from the Force/Torque Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc. (PCB®) simultaneously measure dynamic and quasi-static forces in three orthogonal directions (X, Y, and Z-axes). The sensors are used to study vehicle chassis dynamics at interfaces between shock absorbers, struts or other chassis components.
Triaxial force sensor measurements supplement vibration measurements in automobile chassis research by providing the input force that drives the dynamic response from the chassis to the vehicle. The 260A series features full-scale measuring ranges from 500 lb to 4,000 lb (2.2 kN to 18 kN) in the X and Y directions and from 1,000 lb to 10,000 lb (4.5 kN to 45 kN) in the Z direction. Single axis models are also available.
