Type 4005A... – Absolute Pressure Measurement

The M5-size piezoresistive pressure sensor Type 4005A... is designed for measuring absolute pressure in engines. A so-called DCE sensor (DCE = Direct Chip Exposure), it does not have a steel diaphragm for separating media, but is exposed directly to the medium. The piezoresistive silicon measuring element is placed behind a protective shield and provided with a protective coating.

Thanks to a special coating the sensor is able to withstand typical fuel and lubricating oil vapours. A good deal of flexibility in mounting is achieved thanks to the sensor’s compact design, so that it can always be located in the optimum position for measurements in the intake system.

In addition to small dimensions, this design achieves superb linearity, low hysteresis and a high natural fre-quency. Used in conjunction with the piezoresistive amplifier module, the SCP signal conditioning system and PiezoSmart® automatic sensor identification, the new Type 4005A... constitutes a powerful measuring system which is very easy to operate.
